The scientific and research activities of the Foundry Engineering Team are currently carried out in the following fields:

  • moulding materials,

  • metallurgy of foundry processes,

  • mechanization and automation of foundry processes,

  • production of modern casting materials and alloys,

  • production of composite materials,

  • application of microwave heating in technological processes.

The main focus of the current research includes studies on:

  • obtaining medium-nickel austenitic cast iron and high-chromium cast iron with silicon addition, resistant to abrasive wear,

  • manufacturing Al and Cu alloy composites reinforced with ceramic particles and fibers, used in the construction of locally reinforced machine and equipment components,

  • cast composite materials reinforced with ceramic fibers and graphite in the form of fibers or particles,

  • production of multicomponent powders as semi-finished products for the fabrication of final composite materials,

  • heat and plastic treatment of composite materials,

  • application of microwave heating in drying or hardening processes of moulding and core sands,

  • combustion synthesis activated in a microwave field,

  • application of microwave heating in the utilization of industrial waste, particularly asbestos-containing products.
