The scientific and research activities of the Foundry Engineering Team are currently carried out in the following fields:
moulding materials,
metallurgy of foundry processes,
mechanization and automation of foundry processes,
production of modern casting materials and alloys,
production of composite materials,
application of microwave heating in technological processes.
The main focus of the current research includes studies on:
obtaining medium-nickel austenitic cast iron and high-chromium cast iron with silicon addition, resistant to abrasive wear,
manufacturing Al and Cu alloy composites reinforced with ceramic particles and fibers, used in the construction of locally reinforced machine and equipment components,
cast composite materials reinforced with ceramic fibers and graphite in the form of fibers or particles,
production of multicomponent powders as semi-finished products for the fabrication of final composite materials,
heat and plastic treatment of composite materials,
application of microwave heating in drying or hardening processes of moulding and core sands,
combustion synthesis activated in a microwave field,
application of microwave heating in the utilization of industrial waste, particularly asbestos-containing products.
